<description>As part of the recent HSBC Group restructuring, its merchant banking divisions worldwide were subject to management buyouts. As a result, HSBC Capital (Canada) was poised to become an independent provider of mid-market equity and leveraged funding accross the country. The objective was to create a strong and credible new brand that would become a compelling platform for future growth, building on the company’s proven track record and HSBC heritage.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/22414/534395/fulcrum_web_I_r2.jpg" width="670" height="400" width_o="670" height_o="400" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/22414/534395/fulcrum_web_I_r2_o.jpg" data-mid="7820491"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/22414/534395/fulcrum_web_II_r2.jpg" width="670" height="400" width_o="670" height_o="400" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/22414/534395/fulcrum_web_II_r2_o.jpg" data-mid="7820495"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;
At the heart of the strategy for Fulcrum is the brand differentiation – an integrative, creative approach – based on the four tenets of integrity, which articulates the importance of integrity throughout the process. The new brand was named Fulcrum, the point of support for lifting companies to a new level.

The Fulcrum icon represents the brand’s integrative approach, fitting all the pieces together into success. The pieces fit like a tangram puzzle, disparate elements that, with creativity, build into a whole. Each letter of Fulcrum can be traced along the red lines of the icon.

Every piece of communication was an opportunity to reinforce the brand’s core messages: its differentiation, integrity or entrepreneurial character.

Mer'r'iym is not only a marvellous Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, but also the top-tier design platform for this new Meritage release.
NK’MIP (pronounced ‘in-ka-meep’) means ‘bottomland’ in the Okanagan language and refers to the north end of Lake Osoyoos, where the river meets the lake. Communicating the rich story of the Nk’Mip brand and Osoyoos Indian Band, the design embodies the premium, limited edition offering.

Sleeman Breweries were looking to continue the success established by the seasonal 'Summer' and 'Winter' Selection Packs, which had been available in stores in 2006 and 2007.

A recent rebrand inspired a simpler, product-focussed 'Sleeman Selections' Pack – created to build on Sleeman’s reputation for appealing, innovative beer packaging.
The use of metallic and pearlised finishes, striking photography, and stand-out colours have ensured the packs have endured successfully since their launch across Canada in late 2008.

Arcada Rentals believe that renting tents, tables and chairs should be as simple as it sounds. They help their customers host their outdoor events by offering the best products in a clear and understandable way.
Arcada's brand was to reflect this simple customer engagement, and also be inspired by Nordic European style and design – the 'simplicity of the North' – a connection close to the heart of the Canadian family-run business.

Brand and Design Concepts for Warehouse One – The Jean Store.

To help customers understand who they are and what they sell, Winnipeg-based clothing retailer Warehouse One embarked on a rebranding project that was to include a new strategy, brand and all related in-store and communication materials across its 113-store Canadian business.
Research indicated that while the brand was widely recognized, many customers were unclear as to what exactly Warehouse One was all about. Many of those surveyed only recalled what they knew about the company from the 80s and early 90s. Since then, the retailer has expanded its offering to include a wider range of washes and sizes.

Larry Millar, director of marketing for Warehouse One, said customers had a hard time telling the stores apart from its competitors. 'There wasn't a major differentiation in feel and personality in our company.' The company is more committed than ever to offering its customers friendly service and more fashionable wares, and needed a fresh clean look to reflect that.

Branding, print and online design for Bridgeway Leadership Consultants.

The goal was to establish a coherent and consistent brand image for Bridgeway that reflects the core of the consultancy’s brand strategy – 'ruthless consistency'.
The image of a brand is built in the customers mind by carefully managing their impressions and experiences. The main objective in this project was to translate Bridgeway’s existing brand foundation into an experience that conveys Bridgeway’s uniqueness and advantages, while also providing a coherent visual experience to potential customers.

This project was initiated to target a relatively untapped audience in the 'millennial segment' (20 to 30 year-old consumers) and provide an approachable entry into the Canadian VQA wine category. The wine has received tremendous media coverage, with reviews in well over 30 publications; in an article that appeared in 10 dailies across Canada, Open was named 'one of Vincor’s progressive new brands.' Designed in collaboration with Patrick Smith.

Open Wines have been a huge success, sales to date have exceeded expectations by over 40%, and Open recently became the top-selling domestic brand for the Liquor Control Board of Ontario’s Ontario Wine Month.
Open Wines Award Wins. 2010 LCBO Elsie Awards – Best New Product Launch (Wines) and Best Image Program (Wines). 2010 San Francisco International Wine Label Competition – Bronze Award (Label Series).

In the Canadian wine market, Naked Grape has become a massive success. Its continuing popularity prompted the creation of a new Naked Grape brand: Naked Grape Spritzer – a line of ready-to-drink wine spritzers. Sales of Naked Grape Spritzer surpassed initial forecasts within six months of launch.
