THE CHURCH WEBSITE
The old church website had fallen victim to dated design and too many layers of pages. To counter this, as well as to tailor to the need of being able to update the site easily without specialist software the Cargo Collective service was chosen as the new website's platform. The site maintains a rule of 'One-Layer-Deep' information, and is updated on a weekly basis by members of the church.

		<description>The Chipping Norton Amateur Astronomy Group commissioned a brief to construct a new leaflet that would encourage new members to join their society.

The solution embraced the eccentricity of who and what the group were about, through the use of old Victorian illustration, presenting CNAAG as an esteemed club of leisure.

This internal project instructed the writing of a short story based on a childhood memory, and presenting it as a bound, readable book. I used the project as an excuse to indulge in my interest in digital illustration and montage work. I also experimented with designing my illustrations for presentation in 3D pop-up.

The story recounts my falling in a lake at Fountains Abbey, Yorkshire, aged eleven. Without the luxury of access to the site in order to take reference photos to work from, I was forced to be creative in my illustration style and used of image manipulation.

		<description>Part of a research project studying the role of design within the cinema space.

This element studied common design conventions of the film poster. Six seperate illustrators were challenged to create a film poster that presented the tone and atmosphere of a film as opposed to simply following the regular design stereotypes.

PRINTS FOR ANY OF THESE POSTERS CAN BE PURCHASED HERE.

		<description>Branding identity pitch for House of Billiam - A UK clothing line that tailors urban apparel from bespoke British suiting fabrics. This brand identity brings together the two opposing audiences of streetwear and classic tailoring.

The Logo:
The logo design responds to House of Billiam’s origins, the primary logo shape being a side profile of a building from Hackney’s Chatsworth Estate, London, England, in which the company was founded. The combination of classic and structuralist typography represents the two distinct audiences of the brand.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Logo1.jpg" width="670" height="522" width_o="670" height_o="522" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Logo1_o.jpg" data-mid="9437507"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Logo2.jpg" width="670" height="522" width_o="670" height_o="522" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Logo2_o.jpg" data-mid="9437501" caption="Chatsworth Estate, Hackney, London, England" border="0" align="left"/&#62;

The Pin:
Primary application of the logo is on the clothes in the form of a detachable metal lapel pin. Detachability allows personal customisation of the pin's placement.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Pin1.jpg" width="670" height="522" width_o="670" height_o="522" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Pin1_o.jpg" data-mid="9437351"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Pin2.jpg" width="670" height="522" width_o="670" height_o="522" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Pin2_o.jpg" data-mid="9437358"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Pin3.jpg" width="670" height="522" width_o="670" height_o="522" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Pin3_o.jpg" data-mid="9437360"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Image Application:
Outside of the pin, the logo is presented alongisde additional imagery. Visuals helps to enforce the Billiam ethos of an urban apparel attitude combining with the mindset of British bespoke tailoring.

This proposed imagery focuses of photographs of statues found in cities from the fashion capitals where Billiam clothes are also sold.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Image1.jpg" width="670" height="325" width_o="670" height_o="325" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Image1_o.jpg" data-mid="9436868" caption="London / Paris" border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Image2.jpg" width="670" height="325" width_o="670" height_o="325" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Image2_o.jpg" data-mid="9436870" caption="New York / Tokyo" border="0" align="left"/&#62;

Print Elements:
The logo and its attached imagery also sits coherently within the House of Billiam stationary and stash. This extends on from business cards and on to letterheads and beyond.

&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/BusinessCards1.jpg" width="670" height="522" width_o="670" height_o="522" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/BusinessCards1_o.jpg" data-mid="9435888" caption="Business Cards" border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/BusinessCards2.jpg" width="670" height="522" width_o="670" height_o="522" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/BusinessCards2_o.jpg" data-mid="9435885" caption="Business Cards" border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Letterhead1.jpg" width="670" height="522" width_o="670" height_o="522" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Letterhead1_o.jpg" data-mid="9436145" caption="Letterhead" border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Letterhead2.jpg" width="670" height="522" width_o="670" height_o="522" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Letterhead2_o.jpg" data-mid="9436152" caption="Letterhead" border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Envelope.jpg" width="670" height="522" width_o="670" height_o="522" src_o="http://payload.cargocollective.com/1/0/17160/1905285/Envelope_o.jpg" data-mid="9435971" caption="Company Envelope" border="0" align="left"/&#62;

The Customer Journey:
House of Billiam presents a unique customer journey due to the absence of its own clothes store, instead retailing clothing through independent boutiques across the world. The following images present branding applications within the context of the customer journey, starting at the shop window, before examining in-store point of sale and packaging.

		<description>This project was awarded a pass, and qualified me with admission into the ISTD.

A brief set by the ISTD (International Society of Typographic Designers) instructing response to the topic of 'Fakery'. The resulting project studied our subliminal perceptions of typography, our personalities, and the brands to which we associate on a daily basis.

Choosing three brands that I regularly interact with (Tesco Supermarkets, Microsoft PCs, and The Guardian newspaper) - all of which say something about me because of the brand image built around each company - the created response works to analyse and unpack each of these brands. Each brand analysis identifies typefaces, colour palette, context, and how each of these elements is working to build up a forced ie. 'fake' representation of the consumer. The piece was presented in three parts.
