<description>From visual graphs to Scantron tests to learning about which neighborhood you should relocate to, it's undeniable that data is everywhere in our lives day-in and day-out. Appropriately, writer and radio producer Starlee Kine offers the perspective that suggests that self-help information is so prevalent and abundant, it overwhelms and creates an inability to actually solve anyone’s problems. Or, as better said in Kine's own words: "The more self help I am surrounded with, the less it seems to work." The aim of this illustration was to embody self-help as an entity that unfortunately buries and drowns rather than alleviates or elevates.

Thanks so much to GOOD for the wonderful opportunity to contribute to such a fantastic issue. To read Starlee Kine's entire article Magician Heal Thyself and get your own copy of the Data Issue, please visit GOOD's website.

<description>Posture Perfect is a collection of drawings that uses source material that centers on the representation of women through the vehicle fashion (specifically fashion finesse, icons and labels, fashion blogging and online forums, celebrity and pop culture, and trend-spotting research).

Within this collection, there are reoccurring bodily postures and physical gestures that contribute to a visual vocabulary of icons and signs constantly present within the fashion industry. By the widespread use of this developed vocabulary and universal lexicon, the sources and origins of an image/figure begin to flatten as they become anonymous and largely unimportant. Through this collection of drawings I hope to highlight these iconic postures as well as their displaced origin.

You can find more pieces from this series over at my drawing/process blog Yeah Okay Sure.

<description>Illustration for the cover of Ghost Comics Anthology edited by Ed Choy Moorman

Winner of the Xeric Grant in 2008, Ghost Comics is a collection of comics, images and stories about Ghosts and the like. I was responsible for the cover illustration (front and back). Overall book design and cover design by Jenny Tondera, title lettering by Micah Lidberg, edited by Ed Choy Moorman with assistant editor Abby Mullen.

You can get a copy through Ed Choy Moorman's website. All proceeds benefit RS Eden, a Minneapolis substance abuse treatment facility.

Kudos to Jenny Tondera for these gorgeous documentation images.

<description>Issues in Representation is a short drawing series that draws inspiration from iconic representation and signs in entertainment; Specifically using horses as a vehicle: Walt Disney's Fantasia made in 1940, a basic image of a horse, and Horse Jumping, a sideshow event created in the 1920s.

<description>Building Rooms/Building Qualities was made after moving back to the States after a semester abroad in Ireland. The series was generated while trying to re-acclimate and readjust to America by trying to build immaterial things and traits in my personality such as patience to help me deal with this experience. The hope was by 'building' rooms with patience and solitude, I would be able to glean these traits off of my drawing experience.
