Jokingly at first, but I feel now that this is truly an extension of myself. I pressed and molded hundreds of yards of yarn to make a hardened core. I built up layers of knit cotton and needle felted wool, each fiber dyed by hand. I then encased each layer in beeswax, unintentionally spotted with artifacts of myself: strands of hair and fingerprints. I carried this object with me, tucked in the crook of my arm or propped against my hip, as it grew. Finally, to reveal my process, I bought a saw to bisect my creation.
