Grazing and fire were once an important aspect of historical disturbance conditions on the tallgrass prairie. The phenomenon left patches of successional areas. The vision for the Bison Prairie will utilize research that has suggested the use of grazing as a technique for prairie restoration. The addition of bison also offers educational opportunities.
