I don't know if God, Peter or Pan created Earth but at least I know that the Dutch created The Netherlands. I am talking about the region/province of Zeeland, which in 1953 was struck by a storm that cracked down all safety dykes and barriers at the time in Zeeland. The tragedy that occurred on 31 January 1953 took 1835 lives and many animals were lost during this disastrous storm. The Watersnoodmuseum is a museum that in a way works as a time capsule which contains past, present and future aspect of living with water, technology and human development. Next to that, Watersnoodmuseum is divided in four castles or stages where each represents a different state of mind and emotion. The first castle captures the disaster of 1953, with a vast data collection of pictures, texts and other video and audio archive materials. Castle number two is focused on presenting the emotional side of the disaster. The installation that can be seen there is a remembrance of all the victims followed by a narrated personal story about each victim. Stage 3 goes through the rebuilding process, the Delta law that was issued in order to strengthen the dykes and rebuilding of houses and barns. In this section one can see the donated houses from Scandinavia, Austria and etc. The last section is a perspective of the future and what can be expected.
