For me, the tattoo journey started when I was 8 years old. I was struck with the idea, and took the initiative to carve two initials into my arm with my pocket knife. Now in hindsight, it perhaps was not the brightest idea, nor was it the most popular in the eyes of my parents. However, in my mind, those two initials would be the first step towards my career in body modification. My affinity for tattoos continued over the years, as the path in life that I had chosen, took me to many corners of the world. Whether it was serving in the U.S. military, commercial salmon fishing in Alaska, or attending university in Vancouver, I always maintained my love for tattoos. It was in Vancouver that I truly realized that I had a passion for the art and history of tattoo. Up to that point I had been enjoying tattoos only as a collector but I definitely felt like it was something that I could see myself doing. It was then that I made the decision to move to Toronto and attend York University to study fine art. I quickly realized that art school was not tattooing nor was it fulfilling, and the only way for me to accomplish my goal was to pursue my dream much more vigorously: I hit the streets looking for work. It didn't take long for a shop to put me on; for the next five years I bounced around shops trying to fulfill my desire to learn and grow as an artist and businessman.
