SHH
‘Shh’ is a cross-medium digital ‘treasure hunt’ which allows the user to experience the secret stories of the old Dublin. Using a combination of sound, video installation and interactivity via an iPhone app and a website, the user will ‘discover’ the secrets of the old city is a unique way.

'Shh' won the 'New Media' category in the 2010 IDI Graduate Awards.

There are 3 parts to 'Shh':

1: iPhone/smartphone application

The starting point of ‘Shh’ is the smart phone application which comes pre-loaded with a range of tours of secret old Dublin. The user plugs in their headphones and the app, using GPS technology, guides the user around the city to the next part of the tour, the street installations.

2: Street installations (hotspots)

Scattered throughout the city, the street installations are the ‘face’ of the experience. Audio from the app guides the user to these hotspots where they will see a large, life-sized projection of a short film of a ‘secret’ of old Dublin accompanied with a narrative on their headphones. The installations are also available to view on the app and website; however, the user must have physically visited the hotspot locations to unlock and view each respective video. The more you visit the city the more content you will have to access back home and experiencing old Dublin virtually.

3: Website

After the tour is over, the user can visit the website for a range of post-tour interactions:
- View and print a map of your journey through the old city.
- View videos of the content you have unlocked (ie- the places you have visited).
- Discuss your trip, share stories and interact with others who have taken the tour.
- Add your own secrets which can be then vetted by staff for possible inclusion on future tours.
