Rosalea Monacella
Associate Professor, Program Director, Landscape Architecture, RMIT
Rosalea completed her Bachelor of Architecture with Honours at RMIT University, and also holds a masters in Landscape Urbanism from the AA in London. Rosalea is currently nearing the completion of her PHD.
Her research focuses on the specialisation of emergent urban fields, and the exploration of the diagram as a material operation, which considers the transformation of formal structures that adapt to the changing measures and orders of an urban landscape.
Joseline Setiawan
Researcher, Landscape Architecture, RMIT
Joseline holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design completed at University of Western Australia (UWA) and a masters in Architecture completed at RMIT University, Melbourne.
Her research interests consider the play of forces that inform how landscape fluxes as well as the resultant formal production and/or emergence on the landscape at multiple scales.
Joseline has working experiences that encompasses architecture design offices in Indonesia, Singapore and Australia.
Tom Harper
Researcher, Landscape Architecture, RMIT
Tom graduated from RMIT University in 2007, with Class Honours.
Thomas studied his undergraduate degree - bachelor of design (landscape architecture) at RMIT University Melbourne. With the completion of his undergraduate thesis he was awarded a position as a designer within the office of Karres en Brands Landscape Architecture and Urban Design (Netherlands) through an incentive established by the office. During this time he has worked on a wide range of local and international projects, varying in scale and type.
Tom joined the OUTr lab in 2010 as a research fellow and has continued to strengthen his own personal design methodology and skills both in practical and on a conceptual level. He has been able to explore collaborations with people from a wide range of disciplines both locally and abroad, expanding his understanding of professional practice and academic research.
Kathryn English
Researcher, Landscape Architecture, RMIT
Kathryn graduated from RMIT University with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture in 2007.
Her research interests consider the emergence of design opportunities and potentials through the process of re-making. These are captured by the way in which this process of design reveals Kathryn’s preferred method of working, 1:1 testing. Kathryn has experience both working within Australia and
internationally at an office in the Netherlands.
Greg Afflick
Researcher, Landscape Architecture, RMIT
Greg graduated from RMIT University in 2008, with First Class Honours.
His research is an exploration into the Landscape’s network of surfaces which focus on the embedded layers of economic, cultural and ecological conditions as major positional nodes. These layers hold the potential to develop ‘levels of resilience’ that are dynamically driven. Representational tools that are responsive and active in their own nature are also of particular interest to Greg through considering what these tools bring to Landscape Urbanism.
Greg has an extensive background in agronomy, horticulture and ecology having also attended Ohio State University’s Internship Program, and worked for 12 years on some of the world's best golf courses.
Craig Douglas
Lecturer, Landscape Architecture, RMIT
Craig Douglas holds a Bachelor of Architecture from RMIT University, and has recently completed a Masters in Landscape Architecture entitled ‘re-making’.
His research explores representation as a process that engages the dynamic medium of landscape through diverse communication technologies. In this manner ideas are challenged and transformed through their becoming that embraces the various phenomena of change in the landscape. Craig is currently lecturer and communications coordinator in Landscape Architecture at RMIT.
Tarryn Boden
Researcher, Landscape Architecture, RMIT
Tarryn Boden graduated from RMIT with her Masters of Architecture (by coursework) in 2009.
Her interests are in the social aspects of public space, particularly the placement of 1:1 public structures within these spaces. Tarryn enjoys observing and analysing how people operate within these types of spaces, which is further linked to her interest in communication design.
Huiru Min
Researcher, Landscape Architecture, RMIT
Huiru graduated from RMIT University with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture in 2010.
Her research interest is focused on identifying and designing around urgent issues of urbanism and the critical challenges that cities are facing into their futures. She is interested in critically understanding the intersections between multiculturalism with the quality of life of the inhabitants, and how these evolve, inform and change urban ecologies.
Before working for OUTR, Huiru worked in China for a landscape and design office.
