OPPERCLAES. is honoured to present the first solo exhibition by P. Winkel. We are following this very talented artist for a while now and we are fond of his rather unique woodworks. WOODRICH is about the material, P’s number one material; wood. In stead of working with one theme he started working the material. This evolved into a leading role for his material and his expert woodworking skills. Weather it is the layers that shape an image or the use of a panel for an image. P. Winkel uses his illustrative and typographic skills to provide personal context to the images which he assembles in a symbolic and figurative matter.
Biography
P.Winkel (1985) graduated in Communication and Design in 2007 from the AKI in Enschede. He works as a graphic designer for Sirene Ontwerpers in Rotterdam. Besides his work as a graphic designer he pushes his graphic boundaries by producing free work that show his ability to produce highly tactile work. He uses his love for traditional typography, illustration and craftmanship to experiment with different techniques and materials. These experimenting ways of working give P. Winkel an endless window of opportunities and a way to build up a very diverse portfolio. All this with his computer shutdown.
