Natural Selections
Natural Selections is a migrating collection of exhibits that provide simultaneous literate and electracate renderings of the natural world. Each exhibit interrogates the relationship held between humans and nature by agitating moments of convergence. In order to maximize the affect of the collection, Natural Selections implements a variety of historic and contemporary museological techniques that include: televisual projections, graphic representations, scalar recreations, immersive simulations, and physical artifacts - in addition to emerging technologies. The curated exhibits aim to further intellectual contemplation by imbricating political, economic and societal polemics. The collection provides both reflective and projective scenarios. Six permanent exhibits compose the core of the collection with ancillary space available for relevant additions. By removing the instantiated shell of the museum, Natural Selections destroys the uninterrupted surface of the museum interior, providing behind the scenes access to the public. The exhibits and their relationship to one another define the programmatic and formal composition of the collection. Sites where humans, machines and nature intersect are chosen and the exhibits remain exposed to the adverse and/or productive effects of the surrounding environment.

The juxtaposition of literate and electracate renderings of the natural environment are intended to challenge the institutionality of the contemporary natural history museum. Due to a severe reduction in financial support from local, state and federal governments - contemporary museums have been forced to focus on generating revenue. Unfortunately, this has resulted in the commercialization of the institution and its contents. Textbooks.
