Life Essentials, a welcoming kit.
Design Breif 2009
Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Innovation Lab requested to create the site and service design for a new satellite chemotherapy site in Brooklyn. The design was to be based specifically on a thoughtful consideration of patients’ experience.

Life Essentials, a welcoming kit:
The kit presented to Memorial Sloan Kettering was created to allow new chemo patients to feel more at home, relaxed, and like honored guests.

The kit includes: A personalized hand written welcome letter, herbal tea samples, aroma therapy oil samples, a healthy snack, an eye mask, a journal with mood and weather note sections. In addition the most important part is My Preferences which is a checklist and service that allows the patient to customize their visits - everything from favorite music, to the type of tea they would like and at what part of the day. This is a bespoke welcome service with every day essentials to make the chemo therapy experience as stress free as possible.

As of 2010 the Life Essentials kit and details from it have been brought to life and are in use at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Brooklyn Infusion Center.
