Brief
Dixons sells personal electric products like mp3-players, cameras, PDA’s, game consoles and more. With 170 stores they are Holland’s market leader. In 2010 they launched a new campaign: ‘Mannen denken maar aan één ding. Dixons.’. In English that means ‘Men can only think of one thing. Dixons’. Dixons understands that men only want new gadgets versus women who rather think of functionality. We were asked to create an idea to increase sales in the weeks before father’s day.
Solution
Of course a man don’t want to get sox for father’s day. He will prefer a nice gadget from Dixons. But how does a man let his wife know what he want? It’s not nice to just say what you want. So we created a bit more subtile way to tell your wife what you want. This is how it works:
The father logs on to the family’s personal computer. On the website of Dixons he wil fill in his name and the name of his wife. Then he will select his favorite father’s day gift.
After submitting the information a plugin will be installed in the internet browser of the computer. After this the father is done and will leave the computer.
When his wife will sit down behind the computer, she will be really surprised when she logs on to internet. All the places where normally different banners are placed are filled up with banners telling her what present her man would love to get for Father’s day.
