SOME WHAT: Spring Resident, Hermonie Only
SOME WHAT is an exhibition of new work by HERMONIE ONLY.Hermonie Only was born in 1985 and grew up in Orange County, California. Only moved to Baltimore in 2003 to attend the Maryland Institute College of Art where her love of deconstructionist literary theory was fostered, influencing her approach to art-making. Only's current work investigates ideas about balance and form with aspects of Platonic geometry and the hermetic sciences.
"My work operates in the realm between the abstract and concrete. I want to create an arena which these forces are met and the ensuing conflict becomes the principle of the work."The work in SOME WHAT addresses themes of collapse, fracture, and volume, while gesturing toward an abstracted vision of the apocalypse.
