Curry, curry and more fucking curry.

Like I snapped out of a dream that I was once a Maharaj in a beautiful palace, here I was in a moldy room with no A/C and a shared bath located in the busiest market section near New Delhi station. Room for one night is 550 Ruphi which is about $9, priceless.

Took a quick shower and soon realized I was starving. The prospect of finally be able to eat a real authentic curry got me more than excited. Grabbed my camera and went out to explore the market. Past the main road to the little ally on the side was a food bazaar. What was interesting, and a contrast to most south eastern markets I've visited in the past, there was no vendor selling meat. It is understandable when more than half the population here are vegetarian for religious reasons and probably also not by choice for economical reasons. In any case, it's a extremely health diet and with such a wide variety of delicious vegetables, who would wanna eat meat anyways? (me)

Going further down found a stall where a boy was mixing curry. The way he prescribed the spices and masalas was fascinating, not to mention what a beautifully delicious palette of colors.. Got him to mix me 10 bags of curry (10 cents each) as a souvenir for my friends. This is the best gift one can take from India if you ask me! I just gotta camouflage at the airport to avoid the dawgs sniff me out. Whatever, by then my entire being will permeate Indian flavor from eating so much curry, no sweat.
As I exit the market found a restaurant called TODKA. Too clean for a authentic restaurant but hey, it's only my first day, decided to give it a try. Ordered a dish called Talhi which is essentially a combination platter with all sorts of awesomeness. Took a bite and Oh My Shiva!! My mind was blown away. An exquisite flavor I've never tasted before but a pleasant sensation to my brain, I was stunned for a moment as the flavor sunk into my palette. Everything was so delicious, even the Dali, a sour yogult of sort, was refreshing when eaten in between the dishes. I never put up a food pic, but this one is a one to remember!
