bobbing target is a looped clip, approximately 6 minutes, digitally projected from above onto a large back wall for screening. This installation was designed to be experienced in a rather large, dark and ominous space in order to capture the aesthetic sensibilities of the video and its viewer implication. There are also empty bullet cartridges scattered over the floor from one end to the other and there were two audio speakers installed above to amplify the sound track

This video footage was captured in a shooting gallery in Florida, USA and emphasizes the sculptural elements of this environment and visually produces some interesting textural abstraction within this subliminal, pictorial cavity.

The sound track is mostly audio footage recorded within the shooting gallery of handguns going off and also the background noise of the bobbing target traveling back and forth manually along a long wire conveyor. This footage has also been manipulated and the sound slowed down in order to stress the physical impact of the bullets going off and the delayed reaction of the sound to the viewer’s sensory system.

This two minute looped clip is set into motion by Greg D. in a shooting gallery in Florida, USA where he explains the impact and velocity or the powerful difference between four bullet cartridges by building a sculpture from them. This video was displayed on a mini-dvd player placed on a pedestal at eye-level as part of the trilogy, “a standard life” which included the video installation, “bobbing target” and the video documentary, “a standard life” in which Greg D’s identity is ultimately revealed.
