Punk:
“punk” was not used as an aesthetic meaning but rather as a description of an attitude and a spirit. It suggests fearless defiance in the face of adversity, individuality despite pressure to conform, the drive and inspiration to make something from nothing, finding beauty in things that are imperfect, and asserting one’s voice despite restricted opportunities. It is the power of creative thinking over high production values.

"the apotheosis of an era that was to have a profound influence on the history of taste"

In the 1920s, '30s, '40s and '50s the so-called Café Society in Europe drew together aristocrats, millionaires, artists, authors, couturiers, choreographers and musicians in a "glittering world of fashion and frivolity, opulence and ostentation", notes Thierry Coudert in his new book, Café Society: Socialites, Patrons and Artists 1920 to 1960 from Flammarion. With the likes of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Lady Diana Cooper, Diana Vreeland, Cole Porter, Noel Coward and Cecil Beaton setting the tone and deciding which artists, designers, and musicians were in vogue.

John Cocteau - La Belle et la Bête (1946)
I watched this black and white movie the other night, what a classic. Georges Auric orchestra, the slow motion, dim lighting and the old school camera effects makes this movie experience a fairy tale to watch.

One of the most influential cult film authors and directors of American avant-garde cinema.

Missoni FW 2010 by Kenneth Anger
one of my favorite advertising campaign for a fashion house, as its more about art than the clothes, and the beautiful experiment created, drowned in music.
Suggestive, hypnotic and penetrating.

Kenneth Anger

It is a dreamlike, evocative, surreal cinematic portrait which emblematically represents the director of movies such as "Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome", "Scorpio Rising" and "Puce Moment".
