About Joshua Ege
I knew from a young age I wanted to be a Designer of some sort. My father worked in the printing industry and I always had a fascination with art. The first time I think I realized I loved design was when I saw the packaging for the Rolling Stones Album Sticky Fingers. I mean come on, there is a real zipper on the cover that could be unzipped. How cool is that?
I received my BFA from The University of North Texas in 2002, but I started my career in the commercial arts in 2000 when I started designing independent movie posters, concert fliers and album covers for a punk band in Denton, Texas.
After graduation, I worked odd jobs and did some freelance work before landing my first design gig at Publicis Mid-America. After Publicis, I made the move to Focus 2 and then to Range after about 2 years. I have recently left Range and I am ready and available for work.
In addition to my love of the industry, I am also an adjunct instructor at Texas A&M — Commerce where I teach Advanced Design Communications. In my “spare” time, I currently serve as President of The Dallas Society of Visual Communications (DSVC). I have spent the past 4 years on the Board of Directors of the DSVC. Two of those years I served as the Co-Chairman and Chairman of the National Student Show & Conference. I continue to donate my time to this event to help educate the future of our industry.
Selected pieces of my work have been recognized by Print Magazine, the HOW International Design Awards, Graphis and the DSVC Professional Show.
