Artist Statement

My work examines nostalgia. I explore the interrelations between objects and individuals as they move through time, and how our points of view change as we grow from childhood to adulthood. With wood, earth, concrete, found materials, as well as painting and drawing, I am building works that both celebrate and mourn the liminality of existence. Many of my pieces act as metaphor, referencing fairy tales, the changes in nature, and my own childhood. I utilize found, forgotten materials and natural elements in my work, to suggest other histories with a life of their own; recreations of the passage of time. By transforming these objects into new configurations while emphasizing their inherent characteristics, I create nuanced dialogues between viewer and piece. I seek to recall that which is forgotten.
