About Grasping Hand
Grasping hand was founded in 2011 by Alexandre Xanthakis and Bud Aniontinder. Their projects question matters about generation, forces and physical events. Their late productions include Normal Flora, a pendant lamp that collects samples of human bacteria, and project their growth on a screen.
Alexandre Xanthakis is an Franco-Hellenic designer, graduate of ENSAAMA / Paris in 2007.
In 2010 he made a tubular steel chair with magnetic seat-pads, the project took part of the first Paris Design Week and London 100% Design in 2011 and exhibited again in 2012 at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris in collaboration with VIA and ELLE Deco. The chair will be soon produced by the finnish furniture company Avarte in 2013.
Bud Aniontinder works in the fields of prospective architecture and design. He has conducted researches on unstable environment by making study trips to Northern Siberia. He is currently making researches on the parallel history of sciences and architecture.
