'The crossing' / 'Encounter'
This artwork is about paths that meet and lead to important changes in our life. I believe we have to meet certain people to enable us to learn more about our inner self. Confronting and mysterious as it might seem, soulmates hold a mirror in which we see ourselves from a different perspective. This always has been a wonderful proces of allowing and opening up to not only others, but to one's self. We must learn to love ourself before we can love others. To picturalize my philosophical viewpoint I portrayed one of the most important people in my life. I found it important to use a steep forest as setting and wanted to emphasize the mystery of such divine interventions these encounters really are.
Encounters in which time, objects and places lose their physical nature and impact for a couple of seconds. Perceived in an intuitive manner these tiny fragments of life redefine ideas about control and the perceived world around us. Path crossings show our vulnerability in everyday life and give capacity to understand the essence.
