Evo Bank
Spain
Identity by Saffron

Spain has a new kind of bank. Evo offers only one product - a traditional savings account with a current account, each dynamically feeding the other to deliver the greatest possible return to the account holder.
Saffron developed the new brand from scratch. As stated on Saffron's website, "The creative concept responds to the same spirit that created Evo’s business model... the bank is presented in its purest form, no frills or fancy promises... centered around an iconic symbol that alludes to its offer – two accounts in one."
Not only is Evo a remarkable move for a bank to make (on a large scale too, with 120 branches opening around Spain) but the identity is an apt reflection - and conduit - to its spirit. Where corporate design used to be the straight-forward and stripped back, now it is so often the opposite, with companies desperate to cover every visual cue and whim a potential customer could imagine. And in that way, this is a new form of corporate design, one that is not only highly functional (seemingly, anyway) but strikingly differentiated.
