Who?
Isabelle Interview
Isabelle O'Kane gave me the chance to interview her:

Describe who you are and what you do in one sentence.
My name is Isabelle O'Kane and I am a social media planner and blogger.

What/who got you into social media and the internet?
Naturally I'm a very social person - but the social web enables me to reach out and maintain relationships with large numbers of like minded people.

This enables me to influence and to be influenced - I am constantly discovering new ideas and spreading some of my own. The social web is democratizing our worlds of ideas, media & business by empowering those who participate.
The implications of "being social" for businesses and brands are huge. I find this very exciting and hence my specialization.

Favourite website that you check every day?
I get the vast majority of my information and links from social media - which acts as my filter making sure the information I get is relevant...so twitter, Facebook, iGoogle, delicious.

Favourite pastime away from the computer?
I love dancing - I do hiphop and contemporary dance, singing to the radio while I'm cycling around Amsterdam and hanging out with friends and food.

Any tips you would give to someone who is thinking of getting into old media?
Very soon digital will be a given - there will be no such think as traditional versus digital. Digital will be ubiquitous. So if you want to get into media - you should start by understanding digital.

Any tips you would give to someone who is looking to get into new media?
Get into new media. Follow bloggers in your areas of interest, start blogging, get involved with networks, participate and dialogue with people. Start by getting involved with twitter - it's one of the move valuable tools out there.

Mac or PC?
Do you really need to ask? For me there never was a contest...I always have been and always will be mac user. Our first computer at home in 1985 was a mac I'm proud to say.
