Let's Go To The Movies
"The length of a film should be directly related to the endurance of the human bladder."
- Alfred Hitchcock

"If anyone has known me for any length of time, at some point the topic of conversation eventually turns to the enjoyment that comes with making film and television. At heart, I am a fan and have never lost the thrill and awe that comes with the classics of our culture. What I find equally enjoyable are movie posters, particularly the way in which they try to convey the essence of the movie in one single combined image. Many posters have left lasting impressions on me since childhood and the idea here is to provoke thought and hopefully impact you in the same manner- " Scott Nicholas Amendolare

Bollywood Movies are for me, a guilty pleasure. They are three hours in length, have more musical numbers than any Busby Berkley film and enough vitality to level a city block. However, it is hard to separate the fact that while people are starving in the streets of Bombay, the people can still muster the courage to break out in song!

Douglas Sirk is one of my favorite directors because he turned a magnifying glass on the moral irony in the higher social classes. Here is 'a woeful and morally repugnant tale of betrayal as told in the Hollywood tradition.' Although fidelity is not as prized a virtue as it once was, it's absence still ruins lives and leaves deep emotional scars.

When it comes to the "heist" film genre, my hypocrisy has no bounds. The anti-heroes of this genre are depicted as noble outcasts of society who throw away anything that closely resembles a moral compass, while navigating through a series of truly impossible situations in order to obtain redemption through one large financial score. This 'stick it to the man' sentiment is made palatable by a veneer of impeccable style and enviable "cool." In these films the protagonists do meet the long arm of the law with a heavy hand of justice, however most of the time they get away with the 'crime of the century' to live out a fantasy in the lap
of ill-gotten luxury.
In real life, however, crime does not pay and in the end, that reality will bear witness for this particular group of heist men.
