Implementation & Evaluation
After completion of a draft of the instruction, an evaluation was conducted to collect data used to identify problems with the instruction or opportunities to make it better.

We conducted a field trial evaluation with the piano tabs instruction. We tested the instructional packet with a group learners who varied in their familiarity with piano tabs and piano playing. Our data sources were observations, interviews, and test scores.

We analyzed the data by looking for trends in the test scores and comparing interview answers according to common user feedback. The two problem areas that were revealed through the evaluation were, unclear learning activity instructions, and usability confusion. We updated the instructional packet by correcting and rewriting the learning activity instructions. Usability was improved by creating clear page breaks and relocating the feedback.
