Grab-Bag Print Design
The RISD Textile Department created printed fabric, for which our teachers would randomly assign and distribute to the Sophomore apparel students. My print originally struck me as "toxic" and reminded me of camoflauge; the camoflauge of a non-earthly creature. I then began sketching designs that would resonate with the idea of an other-worldly creature, yet still be close enough to something we would wear here on earth. I designed this jacket with three hoods that would rise and collapse together at exactly the angles I wanted, and to do so took some thought and engineering. This piece was selected for the RISD Fashion Show and was one of eight selected out of 40.
