For some reason, hanging out with Madi makes me feel like I'm in the 80's. It might have something to do with all the Paula Abdul that ends up on the radio or it could just be her amazing leather jacket. Either way, nothing says 80's more to me than the bloom effect. So we used a handful of Kodak Carousel slide projectors and a strobe pointed pretty much straight at the camera. The light leaks and lens flares did the rest.
