Oh they stopped caring after a million fine-and-yous who are so much easier than the truth. Another thousand half-way friends and they fell right outta the loop. When the storms appeared, after the all clear, they checked their jerseys and boots. The scoop: their team appeared to be winning so they were in no real hurry to lose.

Instead they started several marketing campaigns about sin and swimming, smoking weather and winning. The wars, the blues, the big money moves. Instead of thinking on these they absorbed the game, happy with their vote and play, happy with the coach and his name, the mascot costume, the gallop of horse's hooves, and above all the new stadium parlay.

Oh but they pretended to see you.
