She can wear a denim overalls and look effortlessly cool.
Describe your personal style.
casual. comfortable. classic.
Who are your favorite designers?
Margiela for shoes and dresses. For vintage I love Norma Kamali, issey miyake, and Helmut Lang for jeans (old Helmut). Band Of Outsiders for blazers. Current Elliott designers Emily and Meritt make amazing casual wear, ie T-shirts and jeans. And Alaia if I want to look nice.
What are your favorite places to shop?
Scout, Tavin and Margiela in Los Angeles. Narnia, No. 6 and Assembly in New York.
Who are your style icons?
Steve McQueen, Annie Hall, Jane Birkin.
Are there any key pieces you find yourself wearing constantly?
Black margiela sandals, APC jeans, wrangler denim shirt from highschool, and my ankle length customized python boots (I have 7 pairs).
What is your most recent purchase?
I bought some great shoes from No. 6 in New York a few weeks ago. Also I bought a Raquel Allegra dress yesterday.
Do you have any stories about amazing deals you've gotten on awesome pieces?
When I was younger I would go thrift shopping in the Hamptons and always come back with amazing Issey Miyake shirts and outfits. There is just something about older Hamptons women, they just love him. Also I once found a thrift store in a tiny town in Oregon and I left with a garbage bag full of things that I still wear to this day.
Can you give us smart shopping advice?
Just buy a few things you love every year, no matter how much or how little they cost. Don't buy trendy pieces....stick to classic things that you can wear for a decade, put it away for 5 years, pull it out and wear it for another decade.
What's the best thing about your job?
I get to have random hours, travel, and meet people that I am inspired by all the time. It also satisfies some need to play dress up.
Which beauty products do you recommend?
I don't really use fancy beauty products (I just buy the generic stuff at rite aid), but I do use Moroccan Hair Oil. I also just discovered perfumes from Byredo. They also make body care products and home fragrances that I mean to try out. The website is http://byredo.com
5 things you can't live without.
My family, the smell of my baby, vietnamese food, inspiration, and my python boots.
