Rosepainting chair
I wanted to play with old Norwegian craftsmanship and computer-generated design. Nowadays, we see a lot of organic shapes created by CAD software and milled out on CNC machines. My chair is a criticism of design processes dependent on CAD software, with the designer functioning as a mere co-pilot.
As a designer, I’m inspired by the personal freedom and the emotional aspect inherent in traditional craftsmanship. Great design evokes emotions and connections between people and products.
With this chair, I’m hoping to focus on, and pay some respect to, traditional craftsmanship
