The run of the 2011′s Water’s Edge finishes in the beautiful city of Nantes. The Water’s Edge is the only Short Film to have ever been screened at the festival and was screened after the The Holding; a thriller directed by Susan Jacobson & Produced by Alex Boden who were both great to meet and had the pleasure of feasting on some fine French Crepes and Cidar.
The Cinema Katorza’s Projection and Sound System was excellent and by far the best screening I’ve attended. Q&A went down particularly well, ’Bonswar Nantes’ the words from my trembling voice, would of loved to have had Russell Hammond’s soul at that very moment. Despite my nerves, the Q&A went really well, a range of questions from Locations, visuals, story, feature development & was even asked were I got my jacket from. Also shades of constructive criticism on different aspects of the film which is always great to take on board. I received a Jacques Demy Boxset and an applause, no boo’s which was a bonus.
I also met a gentleman named Brian Hoyle who’s a cinema specialist from Dundee University. A fine gent indeed and has an impeccable knowledge of films. It made me want to revisit Andy Small class’s at University where, well, I fell asleep mostly, but Brian has a brain I would love to marry. The festival ended with a screening of ‘The Guard’ which was just brilliant. Watch if you get a chance.
