Carly Hoopes Photography
I am a self taught photographer, shooting primarily in black and white. When I was introduced to photography by my Dad at a very early age, I could only imagine using 35mm film. I have now been using a digital camera for about 4 years and treat it similarly to a 35mm camera in that all of my editing is done while taking the photograph. I very rarely do any post-editing and when I do this typically involves mild cropping. My general rule is, if it isn't a good photograph from the start, it isn't worth saving. I am not a purist, but I believe in trusting my vision and do my best not to bend it further than it already is. I sometimes shoot from the hip but usually compose images from a place of seeing the loneliness that exists within a solitary moment. There is life in decomposition and there is death in the eyes of some that walk. This is my tightrope.
