About Brian Son

Born and raised in Colorado, I strive to bring elements and details of my environment and surroundings into my work — not only textures. There's an overall simplicity that is present, but not immediately acknowledged. I don't make attempts to work harder or faster; I strive to work smarter. There is a disconnect between advertising and the consumer at times, as well as the relationships between companies and the people that comprise them — and there has to be a way to bring it all together in a personal way. My ultimate goal is to create work that is both visually stunning, but moving — to bring art and form in a happy compromise with advertising.
I could talk about what I'm all about, the quality of my work, etc., but I also could say I turn into a 60-foot robot at night that inspired a Flaming Lips album cover — testimonials offer a more valid base.
Experience is invaluable in any form and amount, and the results can be amazing. Seeking to push my goal of becoming a stronger creative and focusing on creative implementation in branding and strategies. I'm ambitious albeit young, and though I will not let my duration of experience hinder me; I acknowledge it humbly. I have a lot to learn, and more after that — and look forward to it all.

What people have said:
"His name is Brian Son. If you don’t already know it, you will soon. He may be a designer only a year out of school, but he’s smart and talented beyond his years. He’s a designer, but unlike a lot of designers, he also understands the nuances of art directing an ad.
To put it in his words, 'By utilizing multiple medias and combining them within a digital canvas, gorgeous textures and imagery can be achieved. Balanced within text and objective, the piece becomes a means to communicate a product or idea…'
To put it in our words, this guys got the rare combination of brains and ability that will put the entire industry on notice, not just Denver."
(The Denver Egotist, 2008)
"Brian Son is a find! His creative thinking, design skills and commitment to being the best is a rare combination these days, particularly for someone as young as he. Brian is certain to become a top director early in his career. He is a team player, doing what ever it takes to get it done, no matter what and is well respected by his coworkers. He is someone everyone can count on. Brian also has the unique ability to interface well with clients and manage project."
(Brigette Schabdach, Principal, Spin Creative Studio, 2011)
"Brian is a true creative, and one of the best designers I've ever worked with. His vision and the work always goes above and beyond what the brief calls for. I was sad to see him leave [JWT] my company."
(Chris Saunders, Vice-President, JWT Denver, 2008)
“Brian is an incredible creative talent, whose raw artistry combines with smart marketing thought to make amazing products. He's always searching for new sources of inspiration and tries to stay hip to the latest trends in design. This gives his work a very refreshing feel and always keeps you guessing. Brian is also a joy to work with and keeps a cool head in any high stress situation. Any agency would be lucky to have him on their staff.”
(Scott Fassett, Art Director, Spin Creative Studio, 2009)
"I've had the opportunity to work with Brian Son on various creative projects over the last 5 years and at every turn I have found his professionalism, and more so, his endless well of creativity to be a tremendous asset to my company. Where there are no ideas for the campaign - he creates them, when there is no time to get the job finished - he finds it. Brian's natural abilities as well as his candor make him unique and dynamic among his peers.
Brian has been a great business associate, and somewhat of a secret weapon! I'd highly recommend Brian's talents and continue to look forward to working with him again in the future."
(Tom O'Keefe, President/Owner, Neurodisc Records, Spectacle Entertainment, 2011)
"I've had the opportunity to work with Brian over the past few years he is an exceptional talent. You have seen his work, the style and quality speaks for itself, so I will share a few words about his personality. Brian is a design ninja. He's got wicked skills and a smart wit. He knows when to listen and when to step up. He's not going to talk your ear off or do a lot of chest beating. He has a strong work ethic and he is a quick study. New software, multiple projects at once, intergrated solutions, he will not disappoint. Probably the most impressive part of Brian's personality is his lack of ego. He's young, he's ambitious, and he is seriously talented but somehow he has managed to stay humble and hungry. Pretty rare. He'll be an excellent asset to any team."
