These looks are inspired by the idea that elegance goes beyond being pristine and proper, but means enjoying getting a little dirty outside and still radiating feminine beauty.
This collection, inspired by the natural growth of bacteria, went to Mercedez Benz China Fashion week, showing at Beijing’s 798 Art District. This collection used digital printing to create fabric with an abstracted sketch of bacteria magnified. The asymmetrical draping is meant to distort the image and move with the natural curves of the body to resemble an organism’s growth, making the silks and tencel come to life with the movement of the body.
Tangere means “to touch or to elicit an emotional response.” This transition collection is inspired by the sense of touch. The cells in your fingertips, pacinian corpuscles, create beautiful concentric designs that I developed into a digital print. Even the concentric layers of our sensory cells mimic that of natural wonders in the outside world. The printed silk charmeuse organically folds and ruffles like fungus growing in a forest or birch bark peeling in fragile layers, creating light and airy layers. This collection elicits a soft and inviting feeling to touch and experience the various layers and textures.
A fall collection examining the versatility of a garment with a change in gravity; pieces easily worn upside down or right side up.
Cerulean Glacier, a Holiday Collection, is a visual analysis between the beauty of glacier formations and the synapses in the brain forming curved channels that flow through a set path. It is inspired by the attempt to map something magnificent with linear elements but will forever be a mystery. This collection has structured lines that curve with the body and have fluid drapes emerging from the seams, as if it was flowing through a channel of cerulean rocky ice or a mind’s synapses. There are sheer layers in icy greens and blues, evoking a delicate side to the structured drapes that are accentuated with the seam binding. It is a collection that evokes femininity by highlighting parts of the body, but allows flow and movement for a sense of mystery that a map cannot fully capture.
