In this project, I considered myself as my spirit animal, the deer. I explored this character in an expanded sense, trying to embody some of the character traits I identified through physical and facial expression.

Wearing a mask forced me to use body language as my means of expression. So much can be said with simple gestures.

In this project, I considered myself as my spirit animal, the deer. I explored this character in an expanded sense, trying to embody some of the character traits I identified through physical and facial expression.

Wearing a mask forced me to use body language as my means of expression. So much can be said with simple gestures. In this version, I wore the mask outdoors and encountered many of the same people, places and situations I encountered everyday as myself.

Of course, I had to make a video. Read more about my process on my blog. much of this was me experimenting with different filters in Final Cut. Eventually, I ended up using a lot of crossover fades, blur, scale and an interesting color correction filter.
