For this exhibition, I gave gifts of distance. Each gift was part of a split up map that represented the journey of my grandparents crossing the U.S./Mexico border in Texas to their final settlement in Pasadena, California. Everyone who got a gift, received a piece of this map. Both the map and the fabric have personal significance. My mother taught me how to sew at 8 years old, as my mother learned from her mother.
