R. Murray Schafer is a world-renowned Canadian composer, educator and environmental activist. The book serves as an introductory text to many whom don’t know about his work. The challenging aspect of the project was to represent his vast and varied oeuvre into a single entity. Through the research and writing process of the book the overall concept behind the design emerged. The thread that connects his writing, teachings, compositions and productions is his passion for the vast open spaces in nature. Therefore the design elements of the book are sparse and generous amounts of negative space have been given to the content.
