Why are you called After the News?
'After the News' is taken from a project about visualisation of current affairs. It also seemed like a good name for an agency dealing with design and communication in a popular culture context, and we couldn't think of anything better at the time.

What do you do?
Design across print, online and experience. Typically, this includes (though isn't limited to) identity design, websites, books and promotional materials. Our clients are primarily (though not exclusively) in the cultural and public sector.

Did you pioneer the 'popular' music/design-discussion MP3 format of the Popcast?
Yes. It can be downloaded here. The 'difficult' second popcast is still in the making. Drugs are being taken.

Where is the excellent 10x10 thing you used to have on your home page?
Here. It is made by Jonathan Harris of Number 27.

Why have you chosen to display your work as illustrations?
This is our attempt to generate an anti-meme, if there is such a thing. Running in direct opposition to designers showcasing their posters by holding them up in front of themselves, we have deliberately tried to find a new contrived way of representing our work. Nothing will ever substitute seeing the real thing, especially printed materials, so please get in touch if you would like to see some samples. While this display of our work is on one level a distortion, and possibly dishonest, it is no more dishonest than bulldog clipping a poster to a washing line, or an artfully shot photograph of a brochure, with an acute angle and exaggerated depth of field. And, flying in the face of all the main benefits of a website, it's time-consuming and expensive.

Can you recommend any illustrators?
Yes. Paul Ryding (who did the illustrations on this site) is excellent, and Silje Erin Aure is also fantastic. Walter Newton and David Kerr are also very good.

Should you ever heat a Ryvita®?
No. Never.

Have you been in any exhibitions?
Yes. We were featured in the Scottish Show 2007. More information about this type of thing can be found here.

Do you make and sell anything?
Yes, some of which is available for sale, other stuff is available for low-level swaps. You can view it here. Lorem Ipsum is also available via Counter Objects.

Have you ever been written about in the press?
Yes. You can view some articles here and here.
