I'm Adam Mann, a graphic designer in Phoenix, and it's a pleasure to meet you!

My focus is simple: to provide clean, functional, quality designs while supporting local business and developing lasting relationships.

TESTIMONIALS:

Kat Moore, Short Leash Hotdogs:

"My husband and I own Short Leash Hotdogs and began working with Adam this last year. We are overwhelmed with the talent, consistency, responsiveness and punctuality of Adam Mann. We had gone through several designers that just did not get our branding vision for our company. When we first met with Adam I was a little skeptical because he seemed so young, I thought no way will he get what we are trying to say. I was blown away that not only was he very attentive and asked all the right questions, but that he got it on the first draft. He REALLY got it, a tight consistent package for our branding that has helped take our business to the next level. My favorite thing is that I never have to ask him for things, which I find I have had to do with most designers. He delivers on time and the right price and always very professionally. I recommend him to everyone. Anyone that has used him has reported to us that they are equally impressed with everything about his services. Adam Mann just 'gets it'!"

Margaree Bigler, Devour Phoenix:

"Working with Adam has been one of the best experiences with graphic designers we have ever had. He grasped the ideas/themes we had and ran with them, creating some very effective marketing materials for our organization. Adam was professional and adaptable and his aesthetic was spot on for each project. The turn around time was incredibly quick and the work exceeded our expectations by far. We highly recommend him and we will definitely be back for more!"

Craig Labenz, Penny Sniper:

"Hiring Adam Mann as the designer for any project sets it up with a foundation for success. Whenever I demoed a beta version of my web application, viewers without exception commented on how much better my product looked than the competition. Adam's designs are clean, modern, and ooze professionalism. His email replies and actual wireframe or mock up deliveries are always prompt, all while integrating suggestions and any visions you may have. But Adam also delivers when given little direction and asked to 'express himself'. My experience with Adam Mann is best summarized by one sentiment: he'll be my next designer, too"

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

So what exactly do you actually do?

I create visual solutions to written problems. This can include many types of media, but more specifically, you will usually find me working on web design, brand & identity work, business cards, promotional items, and apparel.

What else do you enjoy besides design?

When I'm not working on design projects at home, you'll most likely find me at a local coffee shop, long boarding around town, or walking my adorable dog Murray. If you'd like to get to know me even better, you can add me on Twitter or Facebook.

Can you describe your style?

Majority of my work follows the ‘Keep It Simple Stupid’ method - hence ‘Simply Adam Mann’. That does not mean the work is lacking rich content, but rather allows for a more efficient and functional design void of superfluous content. While actual design aesthetic can vary based on the whims of clients, personal tastes usually reflects weathered materials with subtle textures.

Where did you study design?

I actually hold a Bachelors of Architecture Degree from Lawrence Technological University, Michigan. I graduated and worked in the field for two years while I developed a passion for Graphic Design and decided to pursue that instead. Initially some people might think it was a lot of money misspent, but I regret nothing. I still love architecture, and my experiences have led me to where I am today while introducing me to some of my best friends.

What inspired you to make the switch to graphic design?

My father has always provided my family with a great and comfortable life, but at the cost of not enjoying what he does for a living. So while growing up he would urge me to do what I love and follow my passion. Once I realized that architecture wasn't my true passion, it was only a matter of time until I figured out a way to break into graphic design.

What are some challenges you’ve had to overcome?

Honestly, the biggest challenge for me was - and still is - to become more social and personable. I have always been on the shy side. It wasn't until recent that I realized being outgoing and social doesn't mean you have to be the most talkative person in the room. Creating a true relationship with people where you have the best interest of each other in mind is most important.

What sort of notable achievements have you had?

IAAC First Advanced Architecture Contest - Self-Sufficient Collective Housing. 2006. link
Tech News. ‘Students Reign In Spain Competition’.
Honorable mention - Designboom, Shelter in a Cart Competition. link
LTU Artists’ Guild Magazine - Prism. 2006.

What websites do you frequent?

Twitter - I Am The Trend - Brand New - For Print Only - Smashing Magazine - Designboom - Notcot - Go Media - Dribbble - Local First Arizona - Downtown Phoenix Journal - Method & Craft

What are your thoughts on the design community?

Too much of the design I see produced today involves superfluous content with a lack of direction and continuity. I feel majority of designs should be clean, well thought out, attractive, and most of all functional. They may need to look nice, but they need to integrate function with an end goal just as nicely.

If you could have any super power, what would it be?

Flight. There are many close runner-ups, like invisibility, teleportation, and breathing underwater, but the thrill of feeling absolute freedom with no physical boundaries is what really captivates me. Not to mention it would be great to fly to Michigan to see my family without having to purchase plane tickets!

Have any other questions?

Just ask! I'd love to hear from you, seriously!
