Cast Iron Sink, Cast Aluminum, Steel, Public water from 409 East Preston Street
Most people don't even know how there own faucets work, let a lone the systems created so that public water can reach their homes. This basic life commodity is overlooked. Underwater ground systems of pipes, pumps, and compressors leak thousands of gallons of fresh water a day, this wasted water filters into the ground were human elements of infrastructure poison it. I created a basic portable pump system that fits into a standard sink. As you spin the wheel water is transported into the other sink. Even this very basic efficient way of water movement becomes inefficient because of human intervention. The piece highlights humans want to mimic nature and the absurdity of these systems we create.
Plough
Red Oak, Steel, 9.8 miles
Taking a simple pencil drawing from an 18th century plough, using laminated wood, steel, and hand tools i build a functional plough. Who determines the importance of a job it's monetary hourly value, and its societal context. How can humans always so devout to self sustaining and self survival live in lifeless, and infertile environments. using the plough i ploughed one acre of blacktop, in Penn stations parking lot. The parking lot is a space were daily commuters park to commute by train to office and government jobs in Washington DC, their vehicles of labor are the cars and their fields the parking lots, i pushed the plough for 9.8 miles in the parking lot. I followed a linear back forth path in an absurd and useless attempt to create a fertile environment.
Pastiks
The Pacific Trash Vortex that accumulates waste into giant plastic islands has inspired us. Our story involves an evolved form of bacteria that is spawned from the manufactured detritus that makes up their homeland. The species descending from this evolved bacteria, tentatively called the “Pastiks”, journey away from their plastic island in hopes to find their creator and understand their origins. They trace toxic chemical pathways back to Baltimore’s Inner harbor. Where they finally descend upon modern civilization.
Rooms Play
An immersive intimate performance were the audience became actors and hero's that embarked on a journey through 19 rooms with 22 different performances and challenges. Becoming literally digested and ejected into an unfathomable world. In six minute intervals a group of three to four people would enter into the performance and embark on their journey through a to night showing over 450 people showed upto embark on their own journeys,

You Drink Me
Tap Water, Steel Wool, Wood, Plastic Bag, Plastic Cup, Specific Assortment of Pharmaceutical Pills, Cleaning Supplies, Oil, Caffeine
I build a filtration system that represents the current state of Baltimore's water, i took 56 trace pharmaceutical drugs found within baltimore public water system along with many other containment and but them with tap water into a large clear plastic bag. Below the suspended bag is a filter made from knit hand spun steel wool, below that lies a simple plastic cup, on a sterile white table. The system uses gravity. The contaminated water slowly disintegrated the plastic bag and would leak through the steel wool filter picking up rust and fall into the plastic cup. Our attempts to create a sterile environment only leaks more containments. What is left is a rusty yellow liquid.
Where Has Dirt Gone
We can read history by what is caught in layers of dirt like a tree's ring; but now that fetile dirt is lost and entombed in tons and tons of concrete, and layers of pipes, gravel, sewage systems, and subway tunnels. I covered my body in traditional body paint of the Lenape Indians who inhabited parts of Manhatten. My eyes were closed during the whole performance and fake eyes were painted on my eyelids we are all blind to what the world will be in the future, wandering throughout the subway systmes became a futile attempt to get as close to earth as possible.
