Skin & Nails

Exfoliation should always be a part of your shower routine

Bold is the way to go - you want your nails to catch the eyes around you
Eyes. Lips. Cheeks.
Bright! Bright! Bright!

This is the "eye-popping" season
and the exception to collaborating
hot pink lips with yellow shadow

Subtle eye and lips color with a vibrant
cheek is permitted as well =]

Fashion Flashback

this season's runways are taking a trip back to the 70's

Pastels will never go out of style when it comes to Spring. Find a color that compliments your skin tone and will make your best features pop.

Bold lips and subtle eyes are a go for this season as well. Make sure you aren't selecting a color that makes
you look dull. You need a shade that stands out
but will work with your other features,
such as skin, teeth, and your hair.

An all around soft look is appropriate at all times.
Remember: less is more

SKIN
(skn), n.
The body's largest organ.

This is where beauty starts. You cannot apply makeup to skin that is not healthy. Beautiful skin starts with a healthy lifestyle. Although heredity takes the wheel in your skin drive, you can help improve it by doing little things. Here’s some tips for you to keep in mind … .
You SHOULD

-Drink plenty of water.
Water removes the toxins in your body. No this is not a myth you weirdos! Your lymphatic system is filled with a good portion of the water in your body. Your body takes the toxins encounters and ferries them to the lymph system where they travel slowly to your excretory system to be removed from the body as waist. There’s your health lesson for the day ;) Exercising makes this process faster and of course is good for your lifestyle.
-HAVE LOTS OF VITAMINS
Remember to look for the “ACE” Vitamins:
A = prevent aging,
C = promote clarity
E = protect against environment

Your fruits and vegies are a must when it comes to your skin improvement. Strawberries, oranges peppers leafy greens and grapefruit are all packed with Vitamin C.
Biotin is not only good for your skin, but your hair and nails as well. You can find Vitamin B in peanut butter, whole grains and eggs.
Protect Your Skin!
Sorry to break it to ya, but your little face lotion in the morning ain’t enough.
You need to apply a sunscreen before you go out. YES even under your makeup. I am guilty of not doing this too. Plus I go to tanning salons and all that, so I’m not scolding anyone here, just simply stating facts ;).

You SHOULDN’T
-Smoke
It not only causes the skin to age prematurely, but it robs the skin of oxygen.
With low levels of oxygen, the skin loses elasticity which
leads to sagging and wrinkling …yaaa we ALL want that (not).
-Consume too much alcohol or caffeine
Skin problems can be caused by excessive alcohol intake.
Alcohol can cause allergic reactions, such as hives and rashes.

Drinking too much caffeine prevents us from absorbing the vitamins and minerals that we need in our body.

Remember:
-Always make sure your face is clean before you go to bed at night.
-If you have dry skin,

DO NOT double wash. Cleanse at night, and use a disposable cleansing cloth for the morning. This will help your skin to not dry out even more. Use a hydrating moisturizer to balance your skin.
-Oily to combination skin cleanse with a cream or gel type face wash. Biore is a good over the counter product for skin care.
-For minimizing pores, keep up the Vitamin A use. Use an exfoliating face cleanser. Using a buffer pad will help with this as well, but remember, your skin is delicate-don’t be to harsh on it. Murad is known for having one of THE BEST pore minimizing refining gels. It’s $40.00 but since it is a gel and in a pump, it does go a long way and I will recommend it. Murad is my favorite brand anyway and I do swear by it.

HAIR
[hair], n.
Any of the numerous fine, keratinous filaments growing from the skin

The number one security for all girls. It is what helps us cover flaws, create trendy styles, and define our personality. Since everyone has a different face shape and skin tone, it is important to know what cut and color compliments you best.

Cut
Oval: Lucky you - you can pull off almost any hairstyle. In my opinion - long and layered is the best, but an A-Line Bob will look stunning on you as well

Square: Long hair is best for you. Parted down the middle with some volume

Round: Long layers. Always keep hair longer than chin
length.

Long: You want to create width. Bangs swept to the side are a plus. Chin-length Bobs are a go as well. If you have long hair, add volume as much as you can. Get a lot of layers and curl, scrunch, and crimp your hair away!

Heart: You are wider up top, which means bangs are usually a must. You can pull off many styles if you do them right.

Color
Look at the veins in your arms in natural light. If they are more green, you need a warm color. If blue, you need a cool shade.

Helpful Tips

- Wide-tooth comb for brushing through conditioner and other treatment products to distribute evenly throughout hair
-Mousse is a great product for volume
-Get regular trims
-Naturally air dry your hair as much as you can to avoid split ends
-Occasionally use a Clarifying shampoo
-Use a blow dryer engineered for healthier heat styling
-Gel leaves your hair crunchy but mousse or putty will give just as much volume with a nice texture

NAILS
[neylz], n.
a thin, horny plate, consisting of modified epidermis, growing on the upper side of the end of a finger or toe.

You should keep your nails clean, cut, filed and polished at all times. Why? Think about it . . . a slight hair tuck behind the ear, pointing in which direction you want to go, wearing flip flops . . . your nails are constantly out in the open for all to see. A mani/pedi is needed at least once a month. If you are unable to make it to the salon you can always try out some of these products at home.

1. Four - Way Nail Filer
2. Essie's Apricot Cuticle Oil
3. Sally Hanson Hard As Nails
4. Milk and Honey Sea Salts
5. Nail Clippers
OPI has a wide selection of fun, eye-catching colors that are long-lasting.
FOUNDATION
(foun-dshn), n.
A cosmetic base.

When choosing your foundation you need to select it based on your skin type.
Dry: Liquid foundation is best for you. You need hydrating ingredients to help your skin feel and look more moisturized.
Oily: If you have oily skin, you can handle almost any foundation for the most part. Look for labels that say "Oil free" or "oil control" because you do not want to have a shiny or greasy look.
Combination: There are two kinds of combination skin: normal to dry and normal to oily. If you are more on the dry side, use a liquid moisturizing foundation. If you are more on the oily side, cream to powder foundations are a good choice. Think "balance" when it comes to your decision making.
Normal: You can endure any type of foundation. Tinted moisturizer is good for you if you have 100% clear skin.

In order to have a flawless, long-lasting foundation application you need a good primer and concealer.

Smashbox Cosmetics has wonderful primers that I swear by and only cost $38.00. Whether it is a concealer or a primer, each color is for a specific purpose.
Green: reduces redness
Purple: brightens dull or sallow skin
Yellow: dark skin discolorations
Nude: evens out skin tone and counteracts discoloration
