Rosebud restaurant was known to us as Food 101 in a previous life. I remember frequenting this Morningside/Virginia Highland hotspot to have their seared Tuna back in the day. The new name, the more open atmosphere and totally new menu was an apparent good move. Rosebud is coming up on its two year anniversary and on a recent Sunday visit I was able to capture a great brunch that will keep me coming back. Fortunately we had reservations as the spot was packed out by noon.
Under the direction of Ron Eyester, Rosebud serves upscale Southern food with a twist. Imagine a meatloaf Benedict with warm béarnaise sauce a top two fresh English muffins, sided of course with freshly cut home fries. It solved my hankering of lunch and breakfast in one meal. Paired with carafe of Mimosas, it was the perfect start to an already great weather day down South.
Rosebud has over twenty very different kinds of beer available by the bottle. Not to mention an extensive wine list and specialty cocktail selection. Whether dining inside or outdoors, you are sure to find something that will quench you pallet. One thing I didn’t opt for that early in the day was the Rosebud sundae. Three big scoops of ice cream with a rice krispy treat mixed in on top. If you haven’t visited this part of North Highland Avenue, be sure to do so.
