A lot of restaurants have come and gone through Atlanta. One that is destined to stay is JCT Kitchen and Bar. Located in the Westside Urban Market, this is a must stop if you’ve not been in, even if you have, go back (not that you need persuading). Their unique “Southern Farmstead” way of preparing each dish brings out the fresh and flavorful taste out of everything they produce.

With a focus on traditional foods, JCT serves quite a few southern specialties. The fresh bread and butter will keep you entertained until your order of parmesan cheese fries arrive (you will not be able to eat just one). From there try the Cracker Jack salad, that’s right Cracker Jack. This salad consist of a bed of arugula, country ham, apple vinaigrette, spiced peanuts, blue cheese and caramel corn, Yum. Topping their list is the fried chicken (available on the bone or as a breast), which taste just like your Mama’s, especially when paired with the macaroni and collard greens. Another good selection is that of shrimp and grits, a southern favorite and one that shouldn’t be missed.

You’ll want to save room from one of their signature deserts, made fresh daily and often changing. One of JCT’s most notable deserts is their homemade apple pies, served warm with of course, a side of homemade ice cream. After you indulged yourself in gluttony, settle up and head upstairs. A very rustic, yet modern bar area will keep you entertained for the rest of the evening. Grab a seat outside on the deck while listening to some of Atlanta’s most talented musicians. You can also dine upstairs with choices off of the more relaxed, bar menu. Either way you choose to dine, JCT will keep you coming back.
